Sacrament of Confirmation
Adults are prepared for the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation through the R.C.I.A. program. They must be baptized Catholics and registered, active parishioners prior to the reception of the sacrament.
Youth at St. John the Baptist now celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation in 9th and 10th grade. Student candidates for Confirmation are expected to have had consistent attendance in religion classes through Religious Education or Catholic School programs from elementary school through junior high. Students must then complete one year of high school religious instruction, either in a Catholic High School or in Religious Education classes, before entering the formal Confirmation Preparation Program.
Confirmation is in the fall of their 9th grade. It is a 2 year prep program starting in 8th grade, to 8th grade with summer sessions once a month through August with interviews with the pastor and priest of the parish. Saint Names and Sponsors should be selected prior to the begining of their 8th grade RE classes. They do not get confiormation prep in the Catholic High school
