Music Ministry

Leaders of Song (Cantors) lead us in songs, responses, and the responsorial psalm.  They are scheduled as their personal calendar permits.  Music, tapes/CDs, training, and individual practices are provided.

Children’s Choir is open to any child in grades 2-9.  The choir sings once a month during the school year at the 9:00am Mass.  Practices are at 8:00am in the ECC Building immediately before the choir sings at their monthly Mass.  This is a great opportunity for our children to learn both traditional and contemporary songs of our Catholic heritage.

Contemporary Ensemble specializes in contemporary Christian music.  Singers are accompanied by guitar, flute, drums, violin, and keyboard.  Junior high and high school youth are especially encouraged to join.  The ensemble leads music on a regularly scheduled basis at the 11:00am Mass.

St. John Vianney Choir sings choral music of all time periods.  The choir sings at the 9:00am Mass three of four Sundays a month of the school year, plus special liturgical occasions, leading song for our choir loft.  Practices are held on Wednesdays from 7:00 – 8:30pm in the choir loft.

Instrumentalists of all types and levels of experience are encouraged to share their musical gifts.  Trumpet players are used at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.  All instruments are used during the year as soloists or in ensembles.
